Brazilian Waxing?

I'm asking this in a different category than last time, because their weren't too many responses in ';Women's Health';, but anyway...

Okay, this is kind of embarassing for me to ask, but what the hell. I'm a swimmer, so I get bikini waxes on a regular basis.

The person who does it calls it a ';Half-Brazilian Wax';...I've also heard it referred to as a ';French Wax'; but anyway, she waxes hair in all spots except for the labia. I kind of want that hair gone now, because it's just annoying, so I'm thinking of getting the Brazilian Wax where it just leaves a strip. I have tried to avoid this because she said since the labia has no muscles in it, it would be really hard to tighten up in that area.

So my question is, how much worse will it hurt if I get the hair in that area removed? I have done this many times, so I know how it feels everywhere else, but since there's no muscles there, I'm a little scared.

Ahhh, please help! Thanks!

Oh, and sorry this is so long! :[Brazilian Waxing?
I just got my first brazilian a couple of months ago, and man they're great. I can't compare it to how bad a ';half-brazilian'; hurts, b/c I've never even heard of that before, but it's not all that bad. As far as holding the skin taut, the clinician should hold it taut and will also have hold it while she pulls the strip off, it's kind of hard to do both at once in some areas with only two hands.

If your person told you that, it sounds to me like she doesn't know what she's doing. I'm sure if you just ripped the hair off that area without pulling it taut it would hurt like HELL. If I were you I would seriously find another salon.

I don't know what HairJedi's talking about, you shouldn't have to ';talk her into'; anything. if she's doing it that way she's doing it wrong. God I'm squirming just thinking about it. Oww.Brazilian Waxing?
it's a little harder to get the hair off in that area. It's probably easier that you have someone else do it. I do it myself at home. Anyways, to answer your question, since you can't hold the muscle tight like all the other spots it just hurts a little more. The closer you get to the clitoris the more it hurts. And your labia is sensitive, but if you're used to getting waxed down there, it shouldn't bother you that much more. It's actually really cool once you try it, the skin is smooth there and you'll love it!

Oh and I wouldn't shave there because it gets a little prickly when it grows back the next day. :-\
I say if you have gone that far. why not go the rest of the way. It will hurt just a touch more. I have faith in u. I give u props for getting the half- Brazilian. But really if you can handle getting all of that waxed you can handle the rest waxed.. Good Luck.

P.S. If you can talk her into holding the skin tight in the area she is waxing it helps it not to hurt as bad. LOL!!
get your eyebrows or upper lip waxed and that should give you a better idea
typically the ';underside'; of that are isn't as prone to issues like shaving like the ';front/upper'; side is? get it?

i'd wax the top and shave the bottom...works best!

go ahead and wax it----women are tough
I get a brazilian wax once a month, and it doesnt really hurt that much. If you're that bothered you can take some painkillers before you go.

I wouldnt bother with all that half-brazilian / french wax bs, you might as well go for the proper brazilian - guys dont like hair on the labia, and neither do I!
